Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India thousands of years ago. The word “yoga” means “union” - union of the body with the mind, and union of the mind with the soul. It is a means of balancing and harmonising all aspects of the self: the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. This is achieved through the physical practice of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and dhyana (meditation). Yoga helps us to learn to live more fully in the present moment.
This style of yoga is for people who like a physically challenging practice, yet still getting all the calming and balancing benefits of yoga. Students receive individual attention in this class whilst gradually learning the Primary Series of Ashtanga yoga. Great for developing a self practice to do anywhere, anytime. The class caters for both beginners and experienced yoga students.
My “General” yoga class will either be a Hatha style yoga class or a “Led” Ashtanga class depending on the students participating on the day. Both styles of class are guided by me, with the “Led” following the traditional Ashtanga sequence, whilst the Hatha comprises a mixture of yoga postures in a more casual format. Both styles of class finish with laying in Savasana (the corpse pose). Both beginner and intermediate yoga students are welcome and catered for in this class.
This is a 4 week course designed to cater for beginners who are interested in learning Ashtanga yoga. It will be a shorter class and a slow introduction to this unique style of yoga. Being a small class, it will also give me the chance to see where your bodies are at and work out what parts of the practice are appropriate for you. A great opportunity to get some confidence in moving and learning some of this style of yoga. This beginners course will prepare you to be able to confidently join my other classes. (Beginners only.)
I have a good supply of yoga props available for sale including yoga mats, blocks, belts, blankets etc. Just contact me for details.
